By living in the Powell Bubble:
~We are oblivious to the fact that there are people suffering from serious lack of food. ~We pay no serious attention to malnutrition globally or take purposeful action. We cheer when school is canceled, but what if our lunch was the only free meal we received on school days? (like some inner city schools) Poverty consumed areas are located in most Middle East countries, and people live without many of the luxuries we take advantage of like: ~food ~clean water ~currency ~structured homes ~plumbing ~technology ~and many other things we use everyday The people affected by malnourishment are mostly women and children due to not being in a work force like men do. On the other spectrum, obesity is effecting countries that are growing economically, like the U.S. Obesity can effect anyone, from children to adults. It's an epidemic that is causing lots of Medicare problems for the average American. ~Obesity is dismissed and looked at in a different connotation, also not taken seriously enough (Leads to problems like suicide and depression) Obesity causes lots of health problems such as: ~Cancer ~Heart Disease ~Diabetes ~These are the top three killers in the world right now, and in some cases, they're traced back to obesity. The obese population are more likely to: ~miss school ~be depressed ~feel suicidal ~earn less ~be bullied ~find it difficult to marry/have a relationship |
